Authorities took the killings to be a continuation

of the sectarian violence that has shaken the country since the Feb. 22 bombing of a revered Shiite Muslim shrine in the city of Samarra. The carnage came as Iraqi politicians began what they said would be daily meetings among all of the main political parties to form a national unity government. The country's new parliament, elected in December, is scheduled to convene Thursday. . .
