Patti's Back & Nails the Health Care Issue.

Who and How Much - Health Care Industry Cash Influencing your Representative? "...Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), a member of the Senate Health Committee, is the top recipient of pharmaceutical cash, or that Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio), has collected more money from health insureres than all other current members of Congress."

"Premiums" for Profits -- or "Taxes" for National Health Care. Different words, different outcomes but the same money.

It took Congress only weeks to ok an invasion of Iraq. It took Congress only days to enact a financial bailout of the big financial firms. So, what’s taking so long with our National Health Care Program?

Farrah and Michael and ED!

I'm at a loss.......words cannot express! I'm dyeing inside......Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, and yes, OH YES....Ed McMahon (me and Johnny were tight!!!); I can't even begin to describe the melancholy I feel at this time! I can't even talk about it; let's just let the song speak for itself for the loss of them all; however, they will always stay beautiful, young spirited and full of wit as if it were yesterday Ed was saying "Heeerrrrrrrrrrre's Johnny!"

A Touching Moment For A Grandfather With His Grandson

This conversation took place last night, after going for a swim.
Cameron: "Opa, why is your tummy so fat?"
Jim: "I don't know. It just is."

Cameron: "Is there a baby growing in there?"

Jim: "Yes."

Cameron: "Really?!"

Jim: "No, I was just joking."

Small World

I was in the grocery store the other day and ran into a woman whom I'd never met before but we talked and found that we had both been a missionary position in the Philippines some years ago-She in Baguio & me in Leyte. We burst into a rousing version of Lupang Hinirang, and people looked at us a little funny and we went our separate ways without exchanging names. We sounded somethin like this:

It's one of my favorite songs. BTW the word "bundok" (mountain) in line "Sa dagat at bundok" (In the seas and mountains) is the root word for our word boondocks. Our boys picked it up during the occupation.

Please Don't Buy Fur-Chineese or Not.

"When undercover investigators made their way onto Chinese fur farms recently, they found that many animals are still alive and struggling desperately when workers flip them onto their backs or hang them up by their legs or tails to skin them. When workers on these farms begin to cut the skin and fur from an animal's leg, the free limbs kick and writhe. Workers stomp on the necks and heads of animals who struggle too hard to allow a clean cut. When the fur is finally peeled off over the animals' heads, their naked, bloody bodies are thrown onto a pile of those who have gone before them. Some are still alive, breathing in ragged gasps and blinking slowly. Some of the animals' hearts are still beating five to 10 minutes after they are skinned. One investigator recorded a skinned raccoon dog on the heap of carcasses who had enough strength to lift his bloodied head and stare into the camera."
See, Skinned Alive
