Rumsfeld Declares War On America

"Rumsfeld is so wrong about America. His use of World War I history and the specter of fascism and appeasement, and his argument about moral weakness or even treason in any who oppose him, is not only polarizing but ineffective in provoking debate and discussion about the proper course this country must take to "fight" terrorism. This is not the first time that Rumsfeld has shown himself to be so out of touch, so contemptuous of America. Rumsfeld as secretary of defense has displayed a contempt from long before 9/11 for anyone who disagrees with him, particularly in his initial wars against those in the uniformed military. How Hitler Became a Dictator

One Nation Under Allah? Nope.

“EVER SINCE BRITAIN AND FRANCE overthrew Ottoman rule in World War I to create the modern Middle East, Western nations have relied on unquestioned military superiority to secure their position in the region. Between the world wars, European imperialists ruthlessly employed firepower to crush nationalist uprisings. After World War II, as the United States supplanted Europe, American military power underwrote the oil-for-protection bargain forged with Saudi Arabia and eventually made Washington the ultimate guarantor of regional stability. When Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein had the temerity to challenge American primacy in 1990, the outcome served only to affirm US military preeminence.
Meanwhile, Israel was subjecting its Arab neighbors to recurring military humiliations. . . .”

Doug's apology

"There’s nothing harder in public life than admitting you’re wrong. By the way, admitting you’re wrong can be even tougher in private life. If you don’t believe me, just ask Bill Clinton or Charlie Sheen. But when you go out on the limb in public, it’s out there where everyone can see it, or in my case, hear it.

So, I’m saying today, I was wrong to have voted for George W. Bush. In historic terms, I believe George W. Bush is the worst two-term President in the history of the country. Worse than Grant. I also believe a case can be made that he’s the worst President, period. . .

Patti Blasts The Second Amendment Again

Virg is a moderate on this issue. He believes that individuals should be able to own nothing bigger than a tactical new-q-lar weapon. The strategic big boys are only for peaceful nations like us, Pakistan, India, Russia, Israel, and possibly Iran & North Korea.

Talladega Nights-Based On A True Story.

The Ballad of Ricky Bobby is based on the early career of Virgil Snoddy. The story is pretty true to the real life version except that Virgil is better lookin than Will Ferrell and the cat actually used was a Florida Panther. At the risk of being accused of tooting my own horn, Talledega Nights is one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a long time, it tugs at your heart strings, and it is a wonderful lesson for our children on how to succeed in life. If you don’t like my driving, the movie, or this blog, dial 1-800-EAT-MYSHORTS.

Onward Christian Soldiers

“. . . you are a foot soldier in a paramilitary group whose purpose is to remake America as a Christian theocracy, and establish its worldly vision of the dominion of Christ over all aspects of life. You are issued high-tech military weaponry, and instructed to engage the infidel on the streets of New York City. You are on a mission - both a religious mission and a military mission -- to convert or kill Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, gays, and anyone who advocates the separation of church and state - especially moderate, mainstream Christians. . . all who resist must be taken out with extreme prejudice. You have never felt so powerful, so driven by a purpose: you are 13 years old. You are playing a real-time strategy video game whose creators are linked to the empire of mega-church pastor Rick Warren, best selling author of The Purpose Driven Life.”

Bomb the Hell Out of Amsterdam-Better to Fight Them Over There Than Over Here

"While Flight NO0042 was over German airspace shortly after takeoff, the pilot radioed and said 'I want these motherfuckin' cell phones off this motherfuckin' plane!'"

Coming September 10

The UK Terror plot: what's really going on? Is Blair taking Rove's advice too?

None of the alleged terrorists had made a bomb. None had bought a plane ticket. Many did not even have passports, which given the efficiency of the UK Passport Agency would mean they couldn't be a plane bomber for quite some time. . . .

We will now never know if any of those arrested would have gone on to make a bomb or buy a plane ticket. Most of them do not fit the "Loner" profile you would expect - a tiny percentage of suicide bombers have happy marriages and young children. As they were all under surveillance, and certainly would have been on airport watch lists, there could have been little danger in letting them proceed closer to maturity - that is certainly what we would have done with the IRA.

. . . the timing is deeply political. This is more propaganda than plot. Of the over one thousand British Muslims arrested under anti-terrorist legislation, only twelve per cent are ever charged with anything. . . Of those charged, 80% are acquitted. Most of the very few - just over two per cent of arrests - who are convicted, are not convicted of anything to do terrorism, but of some minor offence the Police happened upon while trawling through the wreck of the lives they had shattered. Be sceptical. Be very, very sceptical.

"The enemy has got an advantage”-They Don’t Have Bush Intentionally Trying To Help Them.

"The enemy has got an advantage when it comes to attacking our homeland. They've got to be right one time, and we've got to be right a hundred percent of the time to protect the American people." W.
Gee George, did you ever consider using the resourses that we are squandering in Iraq to actually fight terrorism?

Clinton, who generally refrains from criticizing Bush by name, said Republicans have been ‘trying to play politics’ with the London arrests. ‘They seem to be anxious to tie it to al-Qaeda,’ he told ABC News. ‘If that's true, how come we've got seven times as many troops in Iraq as in Afghanistan? Why has the administration and congressional leadership consistently opposed adequate checks on cargo containers at ports and airports?’”
No shit Bill. Please tell Hillary.

Someone's not telling the truth here.
I wonder who?

The More Things Change

I always voted at my party's call,
And I never thought of thinking for myself at all.
I thought so little, they rewarded me
By making me the Ruler of the Queen's Navee!

Now landsmen all, whoever you may be,
If you want to rise to the top of the tree,
If your soul isn't fettered to an office stool,
Be careful to be guided by this golden rule.

Stick close to your desks and never go to sea,
And you all may be rulers of the Queen's Navee!

UK rejects foreign policy link to attack threat-Yeah, Right.

Bold statement. Virgil fully expected the U.S. & Britain to take the coward's way out and admit the possibility that we are the focus of most of the planned attacks might possibly in some way be related to our foreign policy. The terrorist attacks on, France, Germany, Switzerland and other nations that are not involved prove the fallacy of this defeatist thinking. Good show! Our "Crusade" is God's will.

New Advanced Degree in Motherhood

"The core coursework also prepares the weaker gender for Christian Child Management, from slapping the love of Jesus in to an infant to jail visitation protocols during the latter years of a mother-child relationship. Students are taught the honored role of woman throughout Christian history as they scrub and wax the floor of the classroom -- and press and remove the lint from their professor's topcoat."

How to Get Elected Without Being a Rove-The Way It Was & Should Be

“. . . I have found little evidence that the leading scholars in our field have a clue about the acquisition, maintenance, and exercise of political power. There are exceptions, of course, but . . .I'm talking about politics and power and real people. Let me tell you a story, a tale about political truth that you won't find in any card catalog or any quantified data set. It is very personal, just like politics. . . .

ONE OF US IS A VERY STRANGE GENDER-IGNORE "FEMME MENTALE" AT YOUR PERIL

"Women have an eight-lane superhighway for processing emotion, while men have a small country road," she writes. Men, however, "have O'Hare Airport as a hub for processing thoughts about sex, where women have the airfield nearby that lands small and private planes.’ . . .
Research shows that the female brain naturally releases oxytocin after a 20-second hug. The embrace bonds the huggers and triggers the brain's trust circuits. So Brizendine advises, don't let a guy hug you unless you plan to trust him. ‘And if you do, ‘she said, ‘make sure it lasts 20 seconds.’
A few neurological differences between women and men from Louann Brizendine's ‘The Female Brain’:
Thoughts about sex enter women's brains once every couple of days; for men, thoughts about sex occur every minute.
Women use 20,000 words per day; men use 7,000 per day.
Women excel at knowing what people are feeling; men have difficulty spotting an emotion unless someone cries or threatens bodily harm.
Women remember fights that a man insists never happened.
Women over 50 are more likely to initiate divorce

Has the Sun Set? Is Blair Reliving the Old Days Through Bush?

I don't know, but the Pulitzer Prize winning Imperial Reckoning: The Untold Story of Britain's Gulag in Kenya by Caroline Elkins gives insight into the dark side of the British. It is an impressive, but disturbing book. "Beginning in 1953, [the British] deported or detained 1.4 million Kikuyu, who were systematically 'screened,' and in many cases tortured, to determine the extent of their Mau Mau sympathies." Publishers Weekly

This is a must read for those who want to know about our culture and past as well as those who just want to hate Brits, as we Irish do, and as the rest of the world hates the United States.
DISCLAIMER: “Brits,” when used here, means the British Government. The people of England, Scotland, and Wales are, for the most part, wonderful as are those of Kenya, Ireland, Germany, Israel, Iraq, Lebanon, the United States and every other place. Virgil’s mother often reminded him that “we don’t hate anyone.” She didn’t say not to hate granfalloons which are, at best, harmless and, at worst, murderous.
