THIS CRAPO DEMOCRAT MAKES ME BLANCHE

Sen. Blanche Lincolon co-sponsored Mike Crapo's Endangered Species bill. Please call Sen. Lincoln's office (202-224-4843) or e-mail her from her website at http://lincoln.senate.gov/webform.htmland let her know how you feel. Remind her that Virgil's cousin is chomping at the bit to run against her.
Under the guise of "reforming" the Endangered Species Act, The bill will set back our efforts to protect threatened species by decades.
Our only hope is to pressure our senators to act more responsibly than our representatives.

I emailed Sen. Lincoln asking her to stop this blatant abuse of power and asked her to help save our wildlife and planet. Remember, the more species we allow to become extinct, the closer we come extinction. Even if you are not a Democrat, and even if you don’t live in Arkansas, you can help make a difference.it’s outrageous to do away with or “reform” the existing wildlife laws. In fact, I think we need to make them stricter. In my email, I told her that while it was evident that many Republicans did not seem to care about our planet, it was surprising to see a Democrat take their side on this issue since most Democrats used common sense when it came to issues concerning the environment. I also asked her to make the ethical choice and not support the Republicans in their attempt to destroy the planet.

Virgil:
Please calm down. She's obviously made up her mind. We don't want to alienate her. There will be another day. As I have told you and the countless others who have asked, I do not choose to run. I think annoymous has a good idea. You should repost the objections you listed:
Under the guise of "reforming" the Endangered Species Act, The House billl will set back our efforts to protect threatened species by decades. It will:

* Completely repeal protections for endangered species critical habitat (this one is huge - without critical habitat protection there is little we can do to save species)

* Remove protections for species listed as "threatened" under the law (the whole point with that designation is to take action before species become endangered - if we wait until species are endangered we can expect a more costly recovery and greater risk of extinction)

* Allow political appointees -- such as Secretary of Interior Gale Norton -- instead of scientists, to determine what constitutes the best available science (This administration is about as anti-intellectual as possible - no surprise here)

* Exempt federal agencies from the requirement to consult with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on actions that might impact endangered species (U.S. Fish and Wildlife employs highly skilled research scientists - they are THE experts on endangered species)

* Bankrupt the endangered species program by forcing the Fish and Wildlife Service to pay developers to comply with the law (and to pay landowners)
