More Catholic Ignorance & Misogyny Makes Me Glad To Be of Presbyterian-Methodist Stock Whom God Allows To Use Their Brains & Be Compassionate.*

The Little Rock Diocese has retracted its Statement.* March 7, 2008-God Bless the Catholic Diocese of Little Rock and Msgr. J. Gaston Hebert. The Diocese, through him, "has now admitted its error and reversed its position that 'was based upon what were believed to be 'facts,' which upon further study have turned out not to be true." See, Errare Humanum Est by Jonah.
Msgr. Hebert used his brain and showed compassion and integrity. I thank him.

"The Respect Life Apostolate of the Catholic Diocese of Little Rock has issued an edict discouraging its parishes and schools from supporting or participating in any activities that might possibly benefit the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. They claim that this nefarious event raises money for embryonic stem cell research and Planned Parenthood.

Consequently, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Tontitown will not be selling any charity spaghetti and fried chicken dinners on April 18, the night before the Komen Ozark Race for the Cure in Springdale. The irony here is that the Komen Ozark affiliate has given about $350,000 to Catholic hospitals in Northwest Arkansas, while the Arkansas affiliate has donated $1.4 million to Catholic hospitals since 1992. I'm sure they will return the money forthwith.

That is the second low blow this month for the fight against breast cancer, support for survivors, and the search for a cure. The Ozark affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation held a big fund raiser at the Fayetteville Town Center on February 9th. Thieves hit the items displayed for the "Pretty In Pink" silent auction and made off with about $24,000 of goods that included a necklace, a Teno watch, some Ray-Ban sunglasses, and one earring. Someone should consider dispatching Sgt. Shannon Gabbard to search the vaults at the Vatican."

As all good Catholics do, they will quietly give to the Komen Foundation and keep giving no matter what the Diocese says....it's kind of like the birth control thing......If the parishoners did every thing the diocese said, there would be NO parishes left!

Thanks for the clarification Sally. Sometimes I get incensed by dogma and paint with too broad a brush. There are a lot of good Catholics, Protestants, Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, etc. who don't believe much, if any of the inane teachings their leaders put out.

Grew up with Catholics all around me and always said if I had to be something other than Presbyterian/Methodist it would be Catholic, but now I am really mad at them. I hope nothing happens to Mary's breast. I say this as I get ready to go to St. Benedicts for Lenten Lunch. dj

Everyone in sinc:
Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for US sinners now, and at the hour of death.
May we not believe all that we are taught, the base of the religion is still for the good of all. Therefore, we go and repent our sins in confession (that is, you are big enough to admit your sins to another soul outloud) and then and only then, you're good for another week. May god be with you......

Sally:
What you say makes perfect sense, but why, oh why, do you Hail a woman, but have to confess to a man?

To MMOG.....
Who said anything about confessing to a woman???? Who's to say that the guy in the robe is really a woman....or wants to be! Remember, this IS the Catholic Diocese we're talk'n bout....and we can also look at it as this; "We hail Mary....but the apostles (as we all are; man and woman) are only the messengers!" (notice I put that in quotes for latter use....no one needs to copyright infringe on that!!!!)

And also with you........
