I Just Don't Know.
"I don't know why I need to ask Jesus' forgiveness, I never did anything to him." Felix Bush "I'm disheartened. Britain has recognized Druidism officially as a religion. Distrusting "organized" religion as I do, I guess I'll have to quit being a Druid and find another or start my own." John Wesley
"The only thing about God that I'm pretty sure of is that those who claim to know Her/His mind & will don't." Me
I love to hear the story though-especially from the Apostle & Emmy Lou.

Theophilus B. Larimore on Fletcher Douglas Srygley.
"When Stonewall Jackson fell, Lee, immortal hero of the lost cause, said: I have lost my right arm. Some of us—I am one—lost infinitely more than that when F. D. Srygley fell; and the cause that can never be lost, lost much more when out dear brother ceased to write, to talk, to breathe, than the lost cause lost when Stonewall Jackson said, Let us pass over the river and rest in the shade of the trees, and silently passed to the eternal shore. His life was brief, but eventful and important: his life and labors were such that all the ravages and revolutions of time can never erase the impressions he made. The present generation may never properly appreciate him, but generations yet unborn shall know his worth and speak his praises. Such is the history of men who have towered above their fellows. A costly monument marks the place where Burns, the peerless bard of Scotland, died in poverty and want, neglected and despised. Americas own Washington, known the wide world over and almost worshiped now, was shamefully slandered, bitterly reviled, and relentlessly persecuted, while living as sublimely patriotic and unselfish a life as sage or statesman hath ever lived; and some poetic scribe hath said,
Seven cities strive for Homer dead, Where living Homer begged his daily bread,
History teaching that each of those seven cities claimed the honor of being the birthplace of the blind, beggar-poet. The heartrending history of the human race is replete with such lessons as these. Few are the flowers, filled with the fragrance of love, we give to the living; many, bedewed with the tears of regret, we give to the dead. Yea, the hand that crushes the living sometimes crowns the dead.
Our beloved friend and brother, Fletcher Douglas Srygley, was born in the hill country of North Alabama on December 22, 1856. In August, 1874, he was born into the church, the family of God, the household of faith, the fold of Christ."
Excerpt from discourse delivered by T. B. Larimore at the burial of his lifelong friend, benefactor, and biographer, F. D. Srygley, on August 3, 1900, and reported by Miss Emma Page, of Nashville, Tenn.

Pete Fountain at Eighty.
Maxie Gundlach, Benny Goodman, Pete Fountain, Myra Lingle Earls, Greer Lingle, and Woody Allen, in that order, are the best clarinet players I've ever heard. Pete is the only one I heard play after they were over the age of 80. I bet there were none better. Here's to you PDL. Oh didn't you ramble?
Thanks to Marina, Pete's GGGD somewhere along the line.

It Won't Be Water, but Fire Next Time.
I'm not sure how much difference that will make to the smitten.

How Bout them Rebs? It Ain't Hate, It's Our Heritage.

Truth is, I don't blame Houston Nutt for makin the switch. He's a poor boy from Fordyce just like the Bear who was tryin to make it big. Houston had the misfortune of living in a time when parents could try to run the show. The Bear had established himself well enough that he could invite USC to come to Alabama to kick some ass so he could safely recruit black players. Sam "Bam" Cunningham made a hellofa debut.

Dr. King's speech
I don't want to put words in Glenn Beck's mouth, but my understanding is that he thinks churches should not be involved in social justice. Today is the anniversary of Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech. Maybe someone can enlighten me....it makes sense that we work toward social justice in the name of the Peaceful One. What's Glenn's deal?

Elijah Eugene Pitts (February 3, 1938 – July 10, 1998)
Elijah Pitts has always been a hero of mine. He was the only pot bellied running back in the NFL. I've heard that when Vince Lombardi was told that he ought to look at Elijah, he said "Elijah who? From Philander where?" Too bad that he, like Goose & Bobby Mitchell weren't given the opportunity to play for the University of Arkansas. Maybe Elijah wouldn't have gone anyway. "Pitts hardly seemed destined for a long career in pro football. The son of a sharecropper, he grew up in Mayflower, Ark., a town with a high school so small that it did not have a football team. He attended high school 12 miles away in Conway, Ark., was a football star there and was offered scholarships by a number of colleges. But he decided to stick close to home, playing for Philander Smith College in Little Rock, a school with several hundred students.
Damn right you were Mr. Pitts and better than most.

Trouble in the McGregor Household.
Fingal & Bonnie McGregor have had a troubled marriage from the start. It came to a head yesterday.
Fingal walked into their bedroom with a sheep on a leash and said
"Honey, this is the cow I make love to when you have a headache."
Bonnie, lying in the bed reading a book, looks up and said,"If you weren't such an idiot, you'd know that's a sheep, not a cow."
Fingal replied, "If you weren't such a presumptuous bitch, you'd realize I was talking to the sheep!"
I've recommend counseling. The McGregor penchant for cross species relationships, is not something that will go away. Bonnie is going to have to decide whether she can live with it.
There is some good news from Clan McGregor. Angus & Nanny are doing fine and are expecting another kid this fall. As previously reported, Billy, their eldest was selected as this year’s King of Puck.
