My barber is moderate. He talks, as barbers do, and asked me what I thought of Bush. I tried to politely convey my feelings. He let on as how the country has never been this bad off since Nixon and how we wouldn’t be in this mess in Iraq if it was his kids going over there. Then the conversation quickly and properly turned to how do we get rid of Nutt now that Frank’s stepping down.
The right-wing spin machine has been going at 3000 rpm and more since yesterday. It’s the media’s fault? They (Libby and Armitage) leaked Plame’s identity- TO THE MEDIA! Does anybody in this country remember back to 8-10 years ago? Does anybody remember what Limbaugh made out of (a) the cattle deal, (b) the travel office, (c) Whitewater and (d) Monica Lewinsky? I don’t excuse Clinton’s behavior on the latter, but let’s face it: he got three . . . and lied about getting them. To Limbaugh, that was the end of civilization, the greatest threat to constitutional democracy since the Civil War. Can you IMAGINE what he, Hannity, Coulter, Savage et al. would be saying if President Clinton’s (Bill or Hillary) administration had leaked a covert operative’s name to the media? My guess is that they would be they would be calling for an indictment for treason.
