Virgil despises talking heads from either party. He has been trying to become more tolerant, but he simply cannot abide Marsha Blackburn, the RNC's yip dog ho. Thanks to David Shuster for nailing her.
Shuster: "Let's talk about the public trust. . . .What was the name of the last solider from your district who was killed in Iraq?"
Blackburn:"The name of the last soldier killed in Iraq uh - from my district I - I do not know his name -"
Shuster: "Ok, his name was Jeremy Bohannon, he was killed August the 9th, 2007. How come you didn't know the name?"
Blackburn: "I - I, you know, I - I do not know why I did not know the name..." . . .
Shuster: "But you weren't appreciative enough to know the name of this young man, he was 18 years old who was killed, and yet you can say chapter and verse about what's going on with the New York Times and Move On.org." . . . "But don't you understand, the problems that a lot of people would have, that you're so focused on an ad -- when was the last time a New York Times ad ever killed somebody? I mean, here we have a war that took the life of an 18 year old kid, Jeremy Bohannon from your district, and you didn't even know his name.

I thought we had all this type of impertinent liberal journalism behind us. Didn't we adopted family values in this country? Patriotism is a family value after all.
We can't successfully fight a war if we are going to start worrying about people getting killed. Killing people is what war is about. We lost one war that way already. Isn't that enough to learn our lesson? Look at the consequences to the world of our having lost in Vietnam by leaving. What would have happened if we had lost sooner or worse yet, lost before we even went?! Just image the consequences if America lost that war by not going, had lacked the courage even to try and win a hopeless and unecessary war. There would be a whole lot more communist in the world, if we had not killed so many of them in Vietnam.
Today it is terrorist we have to kill and we are killing them every day. Mr Shuster and others like him are not satisfied with that. They will next demand that we justify the costs of this war. That would mean that we would have to have a strategy to win and to do that one would have to be able to define winning; wining in a way that brought it to a conclusion. Without a conclusion there is no way to know the cost and hence no way to justfy the war. This of course is a false conundrum and absurd. This war is too complex for such simple considerations. When was the last time anyone fought a war with three sides to it; us and two thems?
That is the reason it is the central front in the war on terror because we are in the center between two enemies both of which are enemies of one another. If we left they would have only each other to fight and eventually one of them would win. If an enemy wins obviously we have lost.
It follows, that we are winnning as long as our enemies don't win and they can't have won as long as we stay and so staying is winning. That is all the definition of winning anyone should need or can have for this war. We could have won Vietnam the same way, by just staying; could still be winning that war today but for these pinko communist terrorist sympathaizing media.
It makes no difference that winning in Iraq by staying in Iraq does not mean winning the war on terror. That is what makes terror so terrible; even if you win the central battle against it by not losing it, you still haven't won it.
As Americans it is enough that we are proud that our sons and daughters are dying somewhere else, not here at home.
So we just have to keep fighting until Armageddon comes and Jesus returns. When that happens this Shuster guy will feel bad that he gave aid and comfort to our enemies (and our enemy's enemies)as he will be left here with everyone's empty clothes,and all the dead terrorist, muslims and the Jews - who's only vitue is facilitating the end that is fortold and to which our God fearing President is dedicated to bringing about.
