"We know from the success of the Tyson Foods chaplains' program that there is a great need for this kind of support and knowledge in the workplace,". . . "To ignore the role that faith plays in our daily lives, including at work, is to miss out an essential part of human identity and motivation. We are a faith-friendly company, striving to honor God and be respectful of each other, our customers and other stake holders. We are pleased to be able to help create this position that will lead the study of faith and spirituality in the workplace."

I think that you need to get the ACLU tuned-into what's happening there in Arkansas and the good ol' UofA campus ("Walton College"). Apparently, if you've got enough money, you can push your religion around anywhere you want ... and if you've got an official "Chair" in the Business College for this kind of crap, then I suppose they think that everyone's supposed to believe that it must be OK! The evangelicals down there must not be making enough "headway" in the public schools and government (maybe there's been some measure of success on the "separation of church and state" front??) ... and are going to mount their assault on the public in the workplace. Man, am I ever glad to hear that Tysons has chaplains onsite, to help their employees!! I'll bet those chaplains are really enthusiastic in their support of Buddists and atheists!! But then, in these days of the Dubya "Faith-based Initiatives" there must be a popular notion that you can get-away with anything ... I read recently where Dubya's religious organizations received over TWO BILLION $$$ in government money in the year 2005 alone!!! Even a good Baptist like Jimmy Carter knows that this is pure BULLSHIT and needs to be stopped! But then "President Carter is becoming increasingly irrelevant", according to the current Administration! Give me a break!!
Nice gesture, but it would go a long way to restoring faith in the workplace if Tyson would pay its line employees a living wage. That might be even more meaningful to workers than having a professor in the UA WalMart College of Business, ya think?
