The Quilts of Gee's Bend

"80-year-old Arlonzia Pettway made her first quilt at age 13. Her first memory of a quilt goes back still further, to age six, and her great-grandmother, brought to this country as a slave."

"brilliant, bold and dynamic"

Well what is this Virg?

Even pictures of beautiful quilts like these remind us of grandmothers and hot chocolate, warmth and comfort. Ah, these quilts, with their history, contain the actual fabric of lives; a way to know the grandmothers. Yes, this is art, fabulous beautiful touchable art and history.

Good one.

I can't stand the guilt any longer. This wasn't my idea. My friend J.J. sent it too me. Still, I used good editorial judgment in posting in which shows that I have an artistic, crafty side.
