How Bout Them Hogs?

This is the year of the pig. Virgil was born under its sign and is damned proud of it. The Chinese are right to honor this noble being. Those who don't and/or think it is unclean are just ignorant. (See, post below-No, I'm not saying that all Texans, Muslims or Jews are bad, but those who loathe pigs don't know God. May She forgive them for despising Her magnificent creation.) Pigs are right behind whales in smarts and ahead of lots of people. They are sensitive and have feelings like we do. They'll either love you or leave you alone, but will fight to defend their own. ". . . the pig in real life, in its natural environment, is neither dirty, gross nor nasty, but instead is blessed with sensitivity, intelligence, curiosity and charm. It is time we reappraise our attitudes to pigs, for they are surely animals worthy of our love and compassion, not disparagement, unkindness and abuse." Supporting Freedom In The Middle East? Our Egyptian Buddies Jail Blogger- Bush Has No Comment.

“An Egyptian blogger was convicted Thursday and sentenced to four years in prison for insulting Islam, the Prophet Muhammad and Egypt's president, . . .Abdel Kareem Nabil, . . . sharp critic of conservative Muslims in his blog. He also lashed out often at Al-Azhar - the most prominent religious center in Sunni Islam - calling it "the university of terrorism" and accusing it of encouraging extremism. . . Nabil, . . was . . .led outside to a prison truck. . . .Seconds after he was loaded into the truck and the door closed, an Associated Press reporter heard the sound of a slap from inside the vehicle and a shriek of pain from Nabil.
‘We (the Egyptian people) are enduring oppression, poverty and torture, so the least we can do is insult the president,’ . . .The Bush administration has not commented . . .”

Was Saint Therese Close To Buddhahood?

May today there be peace within.
May you trust Divine Love that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing you are a child of God.
Let this presence settle into you bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each of us. Saint Therese of Lisieux.

If You Buy Bush’s Comparison of Himself to George Washington or His War in Iraq to the American Revolution (Or a Fight Against Terrorism) Call Me.

I have some bridges for sale.

“On President's Day, Bush went to Mount Vernon. He should have thought twice about that.
‘This is the home of the first George W.,’ he said. . . .Bush compared ‘George Washington's long struggle for freedom’ with his own military adventures. ‘Today, we're fighting a new war to defend our liberty and our people and our way of life,’ Bush said. . . .

In his Second Inaugural Address, Washington was clear about what should happen to a President who does not uphold the Constitution.
‘If it shall be found during my administration of the government I have in any instance violated willingly or knowingly the injunctions thereof, I may (besides incurring constitutional punishment) be subject to the upraidings of all who are now witnesses of the present solemn ceremony.’
Washington is a witness for the prosecution.”

Patti, Buddha, & Jesus Ask Hillary To Wake Up & See The Light.

I have been pretty hard on Hillary, but I share Patti’s view. I hope she (Hillary) gets real. She has too much talent to waste.

I Enjoyed the Conversation

UPDATE: I'm moving on, but I want to share one last thought for all you bloggers out there. Check your logs. The one below was visiting my site way too often. I thought they would get bored and find something else to read, but no such luck. It appears that someone gets paid with federal tax dollars to read political blogs. They won't be reading mine anymore. It's too chilly around here.

I am counting on you good citizens to take care of the constitution while I'm gone. Don't let them steal the capitol dome. Don't let them get away with wasting our tax dollars on worthless programs loaded up with bureaucrats or corporate welfare for the rich. Remind them that they work for us. Poke fun at them when they do something stupid. Pride is their first weakness, so give them the wisdom of the common people who are not impressed by arrogance. And have fun. It's cheap entertainment. Be of good cheer, because there are some really awful things that they could do, but they can't quite bring themselves to do if they think you're watching them. And, when someone in government does something right or courageous, be sure to brag on them in public.

Keefe Jackson Has More Than Just Sax Appeal.

Back in Arkansas, Keefe Jackson could pay the bills playing other people's music -- but to play his own, he had to come [to Chicago].” The Big Pond By Peter Margasak in The Chicago Reader. His Fast Citizens group is “exploring the boundaries between composition and improvisation.” "The Fast Citizens have thrown themselves into a challenging melting pot of music, attempting to stir the rich and intangible mixture into something with shape and form. What appears oxymoronic at first glance emerges as a captivating experiment, one that introduced new contrasts to an exciting genre and forces detractors to appreciate the almost metaphysical, impulsive structures that exist in the midst of formlessness." Anna Nicole Smith & The Compassion Thing Again

“Not even the death of her son Daniel was cause enough to allow this woman a moment's peace . . .She was born Vickie Lynn Hogan on November 28, 1967 in Houston, Texas. Although her life was less then glamorous, she was determined to make something out of herself;. . . I always thought she was beautiful no matter what size she was. That's the beauty about life, people come in all different colors, shapes and sizes, but Anna was consistently ridiculed because of her weight. . .[she] was a human punching bag, . . .no saint, no one is,. . . but she was a human. She had feelings like everyone else, . . .She no longer has to worry about what people say about her. She no longer has to listen while millions of strangers pass judgment on her. Rest in Peace Anna, tell Marilyn we said hello.” from Anna Nicole Smith: Another Media Casualty by Sindy Lucas.

Virgil Is Normally Against The Death Penalty, But If The Beating Doesn’t Work, How Else Can We Protect Freedom?

“One person suggested that City Councilman Tom Rawles be taken out back and beaten. Another said someone should put a bullet in his head, and a third that he should be buried in the cement his construction company uses. Rawles began getting the threats last month after he started refusing to recite or stand for the Pledge of Allegiance during council meetings to protest the war in Iraq.”
They probably should give Joann Stewart, who is not offended by Rawles' protest, a good whupin too. “I personally would never have picked that way to protest because that's the flag of the United States of America, and I honor that,. .. . But the main concern is what's going on with the war," Stewart said. A good old fashioned Islamic caning ought to get her back to seeing red, white & blue.

The American “Republican” Army? -Who Do Our Military Leaders Serve?

“A ‘very damning’ report by the Defense Department's inspector general depicts a Pentagon that purposely manipulated intelligence in an effort to link Saddam Hussein to al-Qaida in the runup to the U.S. invasion of Iraq . . .”
Our founders had good reason to mistrust large standing armies. When we have them, their function should be to protect us and to give us accurate information so that we may determine what our national policy should be-not to manipulate us. We have politicians to do that.
“In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.” Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Sorry we didn’t listen to you Ike.

Psychiatrists Say George W. Bush Is Neither a Good Man Nor a Well Man- Makes Nixon Look Sane

So what’s wrong with having a president who is a dry drunk with brain damage along with narcissistic & antisocial personality disorders? “Bush has a short attention span, doesn't read key briefings, and wanders off on tangents in cabinet meetings - mostly about Saddam Hussein and Iraq - lashing out at anyone who disagrees with him.” Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill
Narcissistic Personality Disorder- “ The most disturbing aspect about narcissists . . is their pathological inability to empathize with others, with the exception of those who either mirror them, or whom they idealize. Hence Bush's horrifying insensitivity to the Katrina victims, his callous jokes when visiting grievously injured soldiers, and numerous other instances. The guy simply has no capacity to feel for others in that way. . . .Bush isn't losing any sleep over dead American soldiers, to say nothing of dead Iraqis. He didn't exhibit any sign of significant concern until his own political popularity was sliding--because THAT'S something he can definitely feel. . . is George Bush willing to risk the lives of hundreds, maybe thousands more American soldiers, on an outside chance to save his political skin, in a half-baked plan that even he knows probably won't work at all? Damn straight he is. Because George Bush is that narcissistic, that desperate, and yes, that sociopathic . . . Narcissistic Personality Disorder is frequently associated with alcoholism. The insufferable ‘holier than thou’ attitude associated with ‘Dry Drunk Syndrome’ is indicative of underlying narcissism. Also, the way that Bush embraces Christianity is characteristically narcissistic. Rather than incorporating the lessons of humility and empathy modeled by Jesus, Bush uses his Christian faith to reinforce his grandiosity. Jesus is his powerful ally, his idealized ‘buddy’ who gives a rubber stamp to any cockamie invasion he thinks up. Finally--and this will sound VERY familiar--NPDs are notoriously unable to say they're sorry. Admitting error is fundamentally incompatible with their precarious efforts to maintain their sense of ‘okayness’. Any friend, partner, or family member that has this character flaw almost certainly has NPD.'" A Psychiatrist's Perspective By Paul L. Minot, MD
Antisocial Personality Disorder-“There is a pervasive pattern of disregard for and violation of the rights of others: 1) failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors as indicated by repeatedly performing acts that are grounds for arrest; 2) deceitfulness, as indicated by repeated lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or pleasure; 5) reckless disregard for safety of self or others; 7) lack of remorse by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated or stolen from others.” Diagnostic and Statistical Manual Fourth Edition

Dry Drunk- “manifests all the classic patterns of what alcoholics in recovery call 'the dry drunk'.
His behavior is consistent with being brought on by years of heavy drinking and possible cocaine use.’ ‘Dry drunk,’ . . .’is a slang term used by members and supporters of Alcoholics Anonymous and substance abuse counselors to describe the recovering alcoholic who is no longer drinking - one who is dry, but whose thinking is clouded.’ Such an individual is 'dry' but not truly sober. Such individuals tend to go to overboard. A good example of Bush' ‘polarized thinking’ is his call for ‘crusades’ based on ‘infinite justice’ for ‘evil-doers’ comprising an ‘axis of evil.’”

Brain Damage- “Even discounting the effects of cocaine abuse, years of binge drinking is known to destroy neurons and slow the synapses that map reality.”

Virgil Supports Girl's Rights As Anyone With Real Family Values Would.

Women are increasingly becoming heads of households & Taliban like nut jobs such as Pat Robertson and James Dobson continue to try to subjugate them. The Equal Rights Amendment is a basic statement of human rights which could be very important to our daughters, and other young people as yet unborn. The Legislatures of five states, Arkansas, Florida, Missouri, Illinois, and Arizona are currently considering ratification. Legislative action by three states is needed. Please take time to write or e-mail your representative and senator and urge them to vote for ratification. It's the right, and even the main stream, thing to do.

Music Did Not Die On Februay 3, 1959, But It Felt Like It.

Like Joe Hill, Buddy, Richie, & J.P. never died. Neither did Waylon.

Equal Rights-Bad For Bidness

“Of the 15 states that have not yet ratified the Equal Rights Amendment, 13 are what the Chamber likes to call Right to Work states, meaning they have the state's statutory help in suppressing labor unions. Women don't do as well in salary comparisons in those states either, where equal pay for equal work is as elusive as is legal equality for women generally.” Delphi

I suppose the Chamber, along with the S.B.’s & the Taliban, supports “gracious submission.”
