Thank you, Jennifer, for the exposure to the opinions of Rick Steve regarding the tolerance level of our nation to alternative life styles or making the choice to build more prisons.
I always enjoy watching Mr. Steve on local PBS programming traveling through the wine countries, sampling efficient public transportation, visiting shops of Old World artisans, climbing high above snow-capped mountains in crisp, clean air or riding a bicycle through a quaint, cobblestone village.
In my opinion many travel programs become mundane and irrelevant after a few viewings; become bogged down with the mindless palaver of a tedius host. The excited anticipation and knowledge in sharing far off lands with viewers is reflected in Mr. Steve's energy and capability to discuss a serious problem, and point out that the US government may not have the best approach, when considering a wider lense to study the issue.
It must create a condition of serious culture shock for Mr. Steve to return to the New World, the 235-year old United States, only to find he has stepped back decades in history.
